Brooker Memorial was one of numerous organizations that participated in November at Hartford Healthcare’s Medical Mission held at the Vogel-Wetmore School. Executive Director Christina Emery and board member Maria Gonzalez were on hand for the event.
Services provided included basic dental and medical care, behavioral health assessments, laboratory assessments, vaccinations, personal care such as haircuts, podiatry, nutritional screenings, clothing with warm winter coats, and even food was shared. A lot of service providers were present to make connections and extend the offerings beyond the single day.
While Torrington hosted 300 volunteers, statewide there were 4,000 volunteers involved at the seven locations. There were 23,500 essential items distributed to the participants. All services were offered at no charge and with no insurance required.
