Brooker Memorial’s Pediatric Dental Center was founded in 1994 with the generous support of the Temkin family, driven by the vision that all children deserve access to quality dental care. Led by skilled and compassionate dental professionals and guided by a dedicated Dental Director and local Board of Managers, our center is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for every child.
Meet the Dental Team
Serving families across Litchfield County, we proudly accept HUSKY Dental Insurance, various private insurances, and offer a scholarship fund to assist families without insurance or those facing financial barriers. Our doors are open to all, because we believe that every child deserves a healthy, confident smile.
Our long-term mission is to educate children and families about the importance of oral health and nutrition, fostering lifelong habits that support overall wellness. In the short term, we strive to introduce children to dentistry in a friendly, non-intimidating way, address any immediate dental needs, and provide ongoing preventive care in partnership with each family.
The Pediatric Dental Center was established through the vision of Dr. Isadore Temkin, a beloved local dentist who saw the need for accessible pediatric dental care in our community. With the support of the Temkin family, who contributed funds, equipment, and resources, the clinic was dedicated in memory of Dr. Abraham Temkin, Dr. Isadore Temkin’s brother and a respected figure in Torrington.
Since then, our center has grown immensely. We now operate five fully equipped exam rooms and extend our services directly into Torrington public schools and Region One School District, ensuring that more children can benefit from our care. In the past year alone, our pediatric dental center served 4,000 children and young adults, totaling over 9,500 visits.
Brooker Memorial is profoundly grateful for the ongoing support of the Temkin family, whose generosity and dedication have been instrumental in the growth and success of our program. Together, we continue to build a healthier, happier future for the children in our community.
