Challenging Minds

Challenging Minds provides mental health and behavioral support services for individuals and families. Their programs focus on helping clients build coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and strengthen family relationships.

LGBTQIA+ Suicide Awareness and Prevention

TAHD’s LGBTQIA+ Suicide Prevention page highlights that LGBTQ youth are at significantly higher risk of attempting suicide—roughly four times more than their heterosexual peers—and underscores the importance of reducing stigma, increasing family acceptance, strengthening social support, and improving access to affirming care. It provides crisis resources like calling or texting 988 (or pressing 3 for LGBTQ-affirming support) and connects local youth with peer support groups and mental health services.

The Health Collective

The Health Collective is an LGBTQIA+-focused community health organization based in Connecticut, founded in 1983. It offers medical, dental, HIV support, wellness, education, and social services in a judgment-free, inclusive environment. It also hosts signature events—like queer prom and fundraising galas—and runs outreach, leadership, and volunteer programs to reduce health disparities for sexual and gender minorities.
